In keeping with our belief regarding the Scriptures we teach the following:
Scripture – We teach that all sixty-six books of the Bible are God’s only written revelation to man with every word God-breathed, inerrant in the original documents, and the only sufficient and infallible rule for life and practice (2 Tim. 3:16-17; Heb. 4:12).
God – We teach that there is only one God, eternally present as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, who created all things by the word of His mouth in six 24-hour days and perfectly sustains and sovereignly rules all matter and actions by His divine decree (Deut. 6:4; Ex. 20:11; Col. 1:15-17).
Father – We believe that God the Father, the First Person of the Trinity, orders and disposes all things according to His own purpose and grace. He is the Creator of all things. As the only absolute and omnipotent ruler of the universe, He is sovereign in creation, providence, and redemption (Gen. 1:1-31; Eph. 3:9; Ps. 103:19; Rom. 11:33-36).
Jesus Christ – We teach that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, in undiluted, perfect, and eternal union as the Second Person of the Trinity, who was born of the virgin Mary, who took on the limitations of humanity to save the elect through His completed work on the cross, thereby establishing His right to rule over God’s Kingdom forever (John 1:1,14; Phil. 2:5-7; Rom. 3:23-26; Isa. 9:6).
The Holy Spirit – We teach that the Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Trinity, co-equal in essence and deity with the Father and the Son, who is continuously active in creation, salvation, sanctification, illumination, and intercession, gifting the early church with authenticating sign gifts, and ongoing equipping gifts for ministry (Acts 5:3-4; Eph. 4:11-13;
1 Cor. 12:4-7).
Man – We teach that man was created in the image of God, yet fell through the universally inherited sin of Adam, resulting in every man following him being born in sin, spiritually dead, hostile to God, completely helpless and hopeless to do anything to advance his spiritual condition, neither worthy of being saved, nor wanting to be (Gen. 1:26; Rom. 5:12; Eph. 2:1; Rom. 3:10-11).
Sin – We teach that sin originated in the angelic world, and it rules every part of man’s being (Isa. 14:12-14). Man is an absolute slave to his sin nature (John 8:34-36). Without God’s intervention, man would be eternally separated from God and condemned to hell for eternity (Eph. 2:4-7).
Salvation – We teach that before time began God chose the elect to be His, rescuing them from their sin through the perfect and complete atonement of Jesus Christ through His sacrificial death on the cross, whereby God draws believing sinners to Himself and grants them the gifts of faith and repentance, resulting in their instantaneous justification, their ongoing sanctification, and their future glorification in heaven with Him (Eph. 1:4-6; Eph. 2:8-9; Rom. 8:30).
The Church – We teach that the visible, earthly church is made up of all who have repented of their sin and confessed Jesus Christ as Lord, who have united with local bodies of believers who reflect the glory of God in worship, are devoted to the preaching of His Word, observe the Lord’s Table and believers baptism, are governed by multiple male elders, practice church discipline, and exercise their spiritual gifts (Acts 2:38-39; Acts 2:42; Matt. 28:19-20; 1 Cor. 5).
Future things – We teach the premillennial return of Christ to rapture His church out of this world before He establishes His millennial rule on earth to complete His covenant with Israel and establish a new heaven and new earth where we will rule with Him forever
(1 Thess. 4:13-17; Matt. 24:29-31; Rev. 22:5).
In keeping with our commitment to the veracity of the Scriptures and their application to all areas of faith and practice, we affirm the following:
Human Sexuality – We believe that God wonderfully and immutably created each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary sexes together reflect the image and nature of God (Gen. 1:26-27). Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.
Marriage – We believe that marriage has been instituted and ordained by God, and that marriage has only one meaning: the exclusive covenantal union of one man and one woman for life (Gen. 2:18-25), uniquely reflecting Christ’s relationship with His Church (Eph. 5:21-33). We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other (1 Cor. 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb. 13:4) and that no intimate sexual activity is to be engaged in outside of marriage as defined in this Article. Any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexuality, transgender ideation, pedophilia, polygamy, or use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God (Matt. 15:18-20; 1 Cor. 6:9-10).
Sanctity of Human Life – We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image (Gen. 1:26). Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life (Ps. 139).
Tolerance – We believe that love and respect are due, and to be offered, to all people, as we’re all created in the image of God. Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with the Scripture (Matt. 22:35-40). However, when the Scriptures speak against other philosophies, belief systems, and behaviors, we will be true to the Scriptures and will speak the truth but will do so in love (Eph. 4:15).
Family – We believe that the roles of husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, and children are clearly stated in the Scriptures, including the principles of discipline, instruction, and correction (Eph. 5:22-6:4; Col. 3:18-21). When found to conflict with laws and/or social norms, we will follow the biblical principle (Acts 5:29).
Government – We believe that Christians are called to respect the role of government but adhere to the rule of Scripture whenever there is a conflict between the two (Rom. 13; Mark 12:17, Acts 5:29).
